Prevention

Using the CDC’s STOP SV Technical Package, WCJ’s Prevention Department developed Setting the Bar, LEAD, and A Gym for Everyone as innovative and exciting initiatives to educate and empower participants. The goals are to enhance protective environments and create opportunities to reduce sexual violence in our community. The programs are free of charge and available throughout Duval, Baker, and Nassau counties. For more information, please email us.

A Gym for Everyone

A Gym for Everyone seeks to create environment where all are welcomed and safe when going to the gym. Through passive programming and staff trainings, you can go to the gym knowing that the staff is here to help and can share appropriate resources, if necessary. After the training, we hope staff is able to recognize concerning or predatory behaviors and intervene before the conduct escalates. All trainings are free of charge, available in-person or virtually, and available throughout Duval, Baker and Nassau counties.

LEAD

Leaders Emerging and Developing (LEAD) focuses on preventing sexual and relationship violence before it even has a chance to start by working with youth in our community. By discussing the underlying causes of these issues and harnessing their power to model prosocial behaviors for their peers, LEAD sets out to empower younger people to recognize when something is not right and look for healthy and safe ways to change the culture. Workshop topics include bystander intervention, healthy relationships, consent, and more. LEAD is available free of charge, to all youth serving agencies throughout Duval, Baker, and Nassau counties.

Setting the Bar

Setting the Bar offers free trainings to empower bar staff with practical tools to intervene and help prevent sexual assault. The trainings expand upon skills that bar staff already have to intervene when they see concerning behaviors and offer resources, if needed. All trainings are free of charge and available to alcohol serving establishments throughout Duval, Baker, and Nassau counties. Trainings are available in-person or virtually.
