WCJ Executive Director Named Florida Council Against Sexual Violence Board President

Teresa Miles, executive director of the Women’s Center of Jacksonville (WCJ), has been appointed to President of the Board for the Florida Council Against Sexual Assault (FCASV). Teresa has served on FCASV’s Board of Directors for four years and has most recently been instrumental in an initiative to preserve the FCASV’s Sexual Violence Legal Services program. As President of the Board, Teresa will lead efforts to support statewide initiatives designed to strengthen services for sexual assault survivors, as well as statewide prevention efforts.

The WCJ is the only certified rape crisis center in Duval, Nassau and Baker counties that provides rape recovery services for individuals of all genders and a community resource center that improves the lives of women through advocacy, support, education, and prevention.

Teresa’s innovative spirit has led to great strides for the WCJ. Teresa has strengthened community support of sexual assault services, broadened philanthropic ties, and improved service delivery in the three-county area. Under her leadership, the WCJ opened the J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (S.A.F.E.) Center in 2018, where medical forensic exams are conducted in a private and healing space, making access to advocacy and support services that much more seamless. Teresa is a passionate advocate who has spent the past 30 years as a champion for those in need.
