The Women’s Center of Jacksonville (WCJ) is a nonprofit Jacksonville-based organization that offers advocacy, support, and education to women, as well as rape recovery services to all individuals.  We are the certified rape crisis center for Duval, Baker, and Nassau Counties.

According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization every 68 seconds an individual in the United States is sexually assaulted. Sexual Violence affects hundreds of thousands each year. While making progress, only 25 out of every 1,000 rapists will end up in jail.

WCJ services include a 24/7 rape crises hotline, forensic exams, counseling services, support groups, community education, stress management, career readiness, and breast cancer support and awareness. All services are 100% free of charge to those who need us.

Recent Proud Moments of The Women's Center of Jacksonville

Bilingual Rape Recovery Advocate Eli Shines!

During this year’s annual monitoring call from the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence, our newest advocate, Eli, was put on the spot—and rose to the occasion with grace and confidence. Eli conducted the call entirely in Spanish, immediately removing the need for a translation service. The ability to connect directly and compassionately in a survivor’s primary language speaks volumes about the care and commitment of our rape recovery team.

Seven Years Strong of Excellence!

Thanks to Eli’s stellar contribution, WCJ earned a 100% on our monitoring call for the seventh year in a row! This reflects the dedication, professionalism, and heart our entire team brings to this work every single day. We’re proud to set the standard for what survivor-centered, trauma-informed advocacy can look like.

Our Ongoing Legacy of Care

The Women’s Center of Jacksonville (WCJ) Celebrates 10 Years of Sexual Assault Forensic Exams.

One in six women and one in thirty-three men experience rape or sexual violence in their lifetime. In many cases these assaults are unreported, making the numbers even higher!

October marked 10 years of providing sexual assault forensic exams in Northeast Florida, regardless of whether a survivor wishes to report to law enforcement or not. We serve all individuals at any point in the healing process. At the WCJ, we believe that sexual violence can be prevented. It requires understanding and addressing the factors that put people at risk. Changing social norms, teaching skills, empowering individuals, and creating safe environments to help survivors heal is crucial.

Activist, Author, Astronaut, Time Magazine Women of the Year, Nobel Prize Nominee & Sexual Assault Survivor!

Amanda is a civil rights activist and sexual assault
survivor who set aside her dream of becoming an astronaut to champion
legislative change. She crafted the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights
that was signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2016. Her advocacy earned her a Nobel Peace Prize nomination in 2019, and she was credited with igniting the pivotal worldwide coverage of the Stop Asian Hate movement in 2021. She was named TIME Magazine Woman of the Year (2022) and on April 14, 2025, she became the first Vietnamese and Southeast Asian woman to fly to space on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. In a heartfelt interview immediately following her flight, she shared, “I studied the stars—astrophysics at Harvard and MIT—but life got in the way. In this moment, I just want all survivors to know: “You can heal. No dream is too wild.”
